Aaron Bates, B.S. Marketing '07
Marketing, BS

Marketing defines the process by which organizations satisfy customers' needs and wants by offering products and services. Marketing serves a key role in all organizations, inspiring the mission, driving the brand, determining which market to compete in, and communicating with the target customer.

At USF Polytechnic, the bachelor of science in marketing focuses on advocacy for consumers, understanding their needs, and developing meaningful relationships with them. Students will pay particular attention to the marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion) and how marketers create value for individuals and organizations. Students will cover topics in marketing ethics throughout their coursework, covering the societal marketing concept and best practices in advertising, pricing, product quality, and more. The program provides students with real world skills that will greatly increase their ability to succeed in our rapidly evolving knowledge-based economy.

Students prefer intimate class sizes where they can interact with their professors and classmates while gaining depth from the lecture topic through exchange and discussion. The learning environment throughout the marketing program includes an accent on applied learning where students produce projects akin to real world work experiences. Among these projects are marketing plans, international marketing plans, ad campaigns, sales proposals, marketing research plans, and promotional plans. Additionally, assignments include business plans for local area business owners, who welcome the USF Polytechnic student's perspective as they grow and manage their companies.
