The University of South Florida Polytechnic and Polk County School District have teamed up to provide the first summer program for gifted and talented students in our area. This collaboration established the Central Florida Gifted & Talented Institute which will continue with four exciting programs, Hot 2 Bot, Dr. Jekyll's Lab, Extreme Green Adventure, and CSI.

Each program offers innovative, challenging curriculum targeted at active learning for 105 gifted students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. Students will enjoy weekly field trips appropriate to the curriculum. Instructors have extensive experience in the content and associated skills and represent middle school, high school, and university expertise. At the end of the program, an Exhibition of Excellence will feature a robotic competition and allow students to showcase their final creations to family, friends, and community members.

Students will apply for the program of their choice. These non-residential, day programs extend for three consecutive weeks from July 9 - July 27, 2012 and will be held at USF Polytechnic on Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM.
